The District Malaria Officer, A. Balaji (49), was reported to have committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Pon Nagar on Wednesday night.
Balaji’s colleagues alleged continuous harassment by his superiors. The officer was repeatedly served with memos over the past one month, they alleged. They also staged protests outside Annal Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
