Tiruchi Corporation has launched an intensive tax collection drive which will continue till September 30.

As per the Tiruchi Corporation Act, the residents should pay the property tax for every six months and it should be submitted within 15 days of the beginning of the half year period.

The water tax should be paid once three months.

The people can pay the property tax, water tax, underground drainage service charge and professional tax pending for the first and second half of the year 2012-13, at the service centres functioning in the corporation zonal offices at Ponmalai, K. Abishekapuram, Srirangam, and Ariyamangalam, and the tax collection centres at the Thanjavur road, Ariyamangalam ward office, Viragupettai water tank, Subramaniapuram ward office, Melakalkandarkottai ward office, K. K. Nagar ward office, Kallatheru ward office, Nandhikoil ward office, Devar hall, and Tiruverumbur ward office.

A release of V.P. Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner, issued on Wednesday said that these service centres would function on all working days and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. till September 30.

Apart from the residents of the wards where the mobile tax collection centre is camping, the people of all wards could pay the taxes there during this period.

The commissioner called upon the people to come forward to remit all the pending taxes during the drive and avoid penal action, including severing of drinking water connection and underground drainage connection.
