The Tiruchi chapter of Computer Society of India (CSI) has won the Special Chapter Award for Region VII in South India, Special Contribution Award and Best CSI Student Branch Award, during the annual national convention held at Science City, Kolkata, recently.
The Special Chapter Award was received by the Tiruchi CSI Chapter’s vice chairman Gopinath Ganapathy, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, Bharathidasan University, and secretary S.Ravimaran, Professor and Head, Department of Computer Science, .
Chapters
Formed in 1965 to guide IT industry, CSI now has 71 chapters, 418 student branches, and more than 90,000 members, including famous IT leaders, scientists and academicians. Each chapter organises monthly technical meetings, product presentations, exhibitions, film and video shows.
M.A.Maluk Mohamed, Principal, MAM College of Engineering, received the national-level Significant Contribution Award for 2011-12 for his role as a State student coordinator, South Tamil Nadu.
He mentored and inspired student teams to achieve accolades at the State and National-level conventions.
The Best CSI Student Branch award was presented to the CSI student branch of MAM College of Engineering with a membership of 530. Formed in 2001, the branch has been organising technical seminars, guest lectures, symposium, workshops, training on Oracle and Java, and technical activities. It has been instrumental in facilitating research, knowledge sharing, learning, and career enhancement.
