Thuraiyur panchayat union chairman resigns

The chairman of Thuraiyur panchayat union, Pon. Kamaraj of the AIADMK, who was arrested a few months ago in connection with the abduction and rape of a minor girl from Andhra Pradesh, has resigned from the post.

He has submitted his resignation to the district authorities and it will be placed before the union council meeting soon for acceptance, sources in the district administration said.

Mr. Kamaraj, who was also the AIADMK union secretary, was expelled from the party following his arrest in June.
