Three killed in Tiruchi bus-lorry collision

Three persons were killed and six injured when a State Transport Corporation rammed a stationary lorry from behind at Ponnambalapatti in Vaiyampatti limits near Manapparai in Tiruchi district in the early hours of Thursday.

The government bus plying between Coimbatore and Ponnamaravathi was proceeding towards Manapparai when the accident occurred, causing the death of the conductor Chidambaram (40) of Thathampatti in Pudukottai district and Raji (29) of Coimbatore on the spot.

One of the injured, Ponnusamy (60) of Kulithalai, died after being admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchi. The driver was also admitted as an inpatient, police sources said. The Vaiyampatti police have registered a case.
