Spurred by three fatal accidents within the city limits on Sunday, police personnel went on an overdrive on Monday to create awareness among road users of safe driving.

Acting on instructions from Commissioner of Police Sailesh Kumar Yadav, personnel belonging to traffic as well as law and order wings spent the morning hours distributing pamphlets containing dos and don’ts while driving. At many places, motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmets with gentle reprimand.

The police personnel mainly targeted youth and dissuaded them from footboard travel. The pamphlets also appealed to the public to refrain from drunken driving, strictly abide by the traffic signals, put pavements to full use, avoid talking on mobile phones while driving, ensure functioning of headlights, and to avoid overtaking on the wrong side.
