Three arrested for bid to murder jail warder

Days after a bid to murder a jail warder here, the city police has arrested three persons in connection with the crime. Police gave the names of the arrested persons as ‘Aara’ Senthil, Mahendran, and Nelson.

Police are on the lookout for some more persons in connection with the case, including an anti-social element Pattarai Suresh who was reported to be absconding.

The mastermind

The three were said to be known to Pattarai Suresh who is alleged to have organised the attack.

A motorcycle-borne armed gang attempted to murder jail warder C. Vinod Pandian (26) on the Ponmalaipatti Road in the city a few days ago.

As their bid to commit the grave crime failed, the three-member gang fled the spot on the motorcycle.

The crime took place when Mr. Vinod Pandian was proceeding on a motorcycle along with another warder K. Dharmaraj (23) after having food in an eatery near the Jail Corner bus stop.

The two are Grade – II Jail Warders in Tiruchi Central Prison.

Vinod Pandian, who sustained minor injury in his right forearm, lodged a complaint with the K.K. Nagar police station.

A case was booked under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
