Lack of adequate facilities at police station at Thottiyam in the district has been causing a problem to the personnel. Dearth of space has been the prime problem, as the old police station, built during the British period on about 30 cents, has been hampering the personnel.

New building

The building should be demolished and a new one should be constructed, on par with the latest design by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, according to police sources. They said it was too difficult to ensure proper custody of immovable property such as damaged cars or two-wheelers seized by the police personnel. By virtue of its location at the junction of the Tiruchi – Salem highway, the police station with a shade-giving tree, is more used as a bus stop.
