The second edition of The Hindu Education Plus Pre-Counselling session is back. The day-long session on Saturday (May 8, 2010) at Hotel Femina to be presented by the SASTRA University, the title sponsor, will feature eminent educationists elaborating on the latest trends in the dynamic and ever-evolving scenario of higher education.
Students and parents, who are obviously curious to know more about the likely future scenario of higher education in the wake of the tighter scrutiny of higher educational institutions by the Ministry of Human Resource Development; the debate generated by the NCHER (National Commission for Higher Education and Research) Draft Bill; the imminent entry of foreign universities; the current state of Information Technology sector; the strides made by the manufacturing sector; and the developments in biotechnology, nanotechnology, nanobiotechnology et al, can gain the desired insights during the session.
The Vice-Chancellor of Indian Maritime University, P. Vijayan, will speak on ‘Opportunities in Maritime Sector' and S. Vaidhyasubramanian, Dean – Planning & Development, SASTRA University, will make a presentation on ‘The Engineering – Path to Success.' General Counselling will be by A. Jayaprakash Gandhi, Career Consultant and Analyst while Lena Tamizhvaanan, Journalist, will carry out a motivational training. The gathering of students and parents can interact with the speakers after each presentation. Replete with lectures on career options, motivational training and seminar on employability, the Pre-Counselling session has been designed to enlarge the students' perspective about higher education.
