Thamizhisai vizha celebrated

Thamizhisai vizha was celebrated in a grand manner at Government Music College at Thiruvaiyaru near Thanjavur on Friday.

G.Rangaswamy Moopanar, president of Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha, inaugurated the class room built using Rs.5 lakh fund allotted by G.K.Vasan, Union Minister for Shipping from his local area development fund.

Kumarasamy Thambiran of Dharumapuram Adheenam inaugurated the research facilities. He said that Thiruvaiyaru is a place of spirituality and music. Thamizhisai flourished here.

He sang Devaram hymns and said that Thirunavukarasar and Thirugnanasambandar sang in praise of Thiruvaiyaru and Iyarappar temple.

M.Ponnavaikko, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, inaugurated the website of the college. Nada Laya Inbam by Tavil vidwan T.R.Govindarajan followed the programme.

P.Umamaheswari, college Principal, and other professors sang Thamizh Padalgal of Periyasamy Thooran, Arunachala Kavirayar, Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathi and Kalki. Ramkumar MLA and others participated in the function, said a press release issued here by the college on Sunday.
