Teachers told to match private counterparts

The District Collector, T.K.Ponnusamy, presented science innovation awards to 27 students at a function held at the CSI higher secondary school here on Thursday.

Prizes were also given to 90 students, who won the individual talent competitions and 54 students, who won the events conducted in connection with Road Safety Week celebrations, on the occasion.

Speaking at the function, Collector urged the students to participate enthusiastically in competitions to enrich their knowledge.

Mr.Ponnusamy pointed out that the boys were lagging behind girls in education and all students must concentrate on improving their performance. He appealed to government school teachers to work hard and improve the standard of teaching to match private schools and enable students to get ranks in Tenth and Plus Two public examinations.

Karthiyayini, Chief Education Officer, Jayalakshmi, District Educational Officer, Jeevarathinam, Revenue Divisional Officer, Chinnadurai, headmaster of Government HSS, Ariyalur and others spoke.
