The members of the Association of University Teachers (AUT) staged a dharna in front of the office of the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education (RJDCE) in Tiruchi on Monday evening condemning the callous attitude of the RJDCE towards government aided college teachers.
The RJDCE is wantonly disregarding government orders and proceedings of the Director of Collegiate Education, the participants hailing from Tiruchi and Thanjavur zones of the AUT said J.Chockalingam, secretary, AUT-zone VI, led the dharna.
M.Ravichandran, General Secretary, AUT, S.Sambasivam, chairman, AUT zone V, and S.Seenivasan, chairman, AUT zone VI, alleged that the RJDCE is neglecting the legitimate grievances of aided college teachers. The RJDCEs of Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai have set right the pay anomaly of the teachers in their respective areas.
The teachers have to wait for four to five months to get their provident fund amount and earned leave surrender. They also said that many teachers have not got their government’s health card under health fund scheme and this has landed them in untold hardship.
