A police Constable has been arrested on the charge of abetting his wife – also a Constable – to commit suicide in their house here.
Constable Rajkamal was subsequently lodged in the Tiruchi Central Prison. Departmental action was initiated against Rajkamal by placing him under suspension following his arrest.
An order placing Constable Rajkamal under suspension was issued by the Superintendent of Police T. Senthil Kumar, a police press release said.
The 24-year-old woman police Constable Shamim Banu, who was married to Rajkamal a couple of years ago, resorted to the extreme step of committing suicide by hanging herself a few days ago at the Armed Reserve police quarters where she stayed with her husband.
Constable Shamim Banu was attached to the Tiruverambur Traffic unit, while Rajkamal was attached to the Kollidam police station. The release further said Shamim Banu ended her life after being abetted by Rajkamal.
