A large number of students from different schools in the district participated in the painting competition organised by State Bank of India, in connection with SBI Thai Tiruvizha 2013 on its main branch premises in the city on Saturday. The competition was conducted in two categories – junior students below standard VII and seniors studying in standard VIII and above.
V.Dhurkah of Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya won the first position in senior category while A.B. Chakthika (SBIOA Higher Secondary School) got the second prize and S. Sofy (Boiler Plant Girls Higher Secondary School) finished third.
In the junior category, the first prize went to R.Anu Rakshana (Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya). A. Deepika of the same school and M. Priya Jeishree from Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya in Tiruvanakovil finished second and third. Sailesh Kumar Yadav, City Police Commissioner, distributed prizes to the winners. State Bank of India, under its corporate social responsibility programme, donated an ambulance to Seva Bharathi Then Tamizh Nadu Trust, a voluntary organisation, on the occasion.
K. C. Cheran, Deputy Director of Health Services and Family Welfare, and Arun Agrawal, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India, handed over the key of the ambulance to trust personnel and flagged off the vehicle.
M.N. Srinivasan, Regional Manager, Region-I, R.S. Raju, Assistant General Manager, RASMEC, and B. Manivasagam and Mathialagan, both Assistant General Managers, were present along with representatives from State Bank staff union and SBI Officers Association. John Louis, International Grandmaster on memory, organised a programme on memory techniques, ‘Memory for life’.
