The importance of immunisation for children and pregnant mothers was underscored by medical experts at a programme organised in connection with World Immunisation Day here recently.

The programme was organised by the Family Welfare Department of Golden Rock Divisional Railway Hospital at the Railway Health Unit in Tiruchi Junction. A healthy baby show was organised as part of the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Superintendent of Railway Hospital, Dr.R.Soundararajan said immunisation was essential for children as it would prevent them from getting afflicted with diseases such as polio, whopping cough, tuberculosis, measles and tetanus.

The Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr.P.Venkatram made a power point presentation on immunisation for children and pregnant mothers. Dr.S.Karthikeyan, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent, Health Unit, Tiruchi spoke on the occasion. Prizes were given to healthy babies.
