Stir by hospital staff

A railway doctor attached to the Divisional Railway Hospital at Golden Rock here allegedly hit a clerk, triggering protest by the staff on Wednesday.

The protesting hospital staff sat in front of the office of the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) on the railway hospital premises for over two hours raising slogans and demanding an apology from the doctor.

Railway sources said the Senior Divisional Medical Officer Jesu Anthony Ezhilarasu allegedly slapped the clerk Ravikumar when the latter went to obtain his signature on a report.

The sources said the doctor was about to sign in the column meant for the CMS on a report when the clerk reportedly told him not to do so. Irked, the officer was said to have slapped him. As CMS pacified the protestors, thetwithdrew the protest.
