Encouraged by higher milk production registered during 2008-09, the Co-operative Milk Producers Society in Manapparai near here has chalked out a special plan to get loans for 100 members for the purchase of milch animals during this current financial year.

The Society has been registering a daily average production of 12,000 litres and the purchase of new milch animals will help step up the production by an additional 5,000 litres a day, taking the tally up to 17,000 litres, said P. Govindasamy, Special Officer of the Society. The loans would be sanctioned under a tie-up system with the society before March next year, he said while speaking on the sidelines of a function held at Manapparai recently, to mark the distribution of prizes to members who registered highest milk production during 2008-09.

R. Muthukrishnan, Deputy Registrar for Diary Development, and R.
