Stalin to inaugurate Ayan Peraiyur samathuvapuram

Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin would declare open the samathuvapuram at Ayan Peraiyur in Perambalur district on Sunday.

This would be fifth samathuvapuram in the district. The new samathavapuram, with 100 houses, has been established at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore in Veppanthattai taluk. While Rs.2.05 crore has been spent on the construction of the houses, the remaining project cost has been spent for creating basic amenities, including roads, street lights, drinking water supply, and a ration shop.

Mr.Stalin would also hand over 1250 houses built under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme in the district, constructed at a total cost of Rs.9.37 crore and distribute welfare assistance.

Collector M.Vijayakumar in a press release said about 20,061 huts have been identified for conversion into concrete houses in the district. During 2010-11, 3,457 houses are to be built at a cost of Rs.25.92 crore and of these 1,250 houses have been built already. Orders have also been issued for the construction of another 4,450 houses at a cost of Rs.33.37 crore in the second phase of the project during the current financial year.

Mr.Vijayakumar said another samathuvapuram was also being established at Othiyam in Veppur panchayat union at a cost of Rs.2.08 crore.
