SSLC examinations begin in central districts

A total of 38,349 students wrote class 10 examinations in Thanjavur district on Wednesday.

N. Subbaiyan, Collector, inspected the examinations at Rajah's Higher Secondary School in Thanjavur. He said the examinations were supervised by 2,151 hall supervisors and 152 flying squads. Ninety nine scribes had been appointed to help people with disabilities to write the examinations.

V. Thamizharasu, Chief Education Officer, accompanied the Collector during his visit.

Tiruvarur

A total of 20,286 students wrote class 10 examinations, which began on Wednesday, in Tiruvarur district.

S. Natarajan, Collector, inspected examination centres at V.S. Boys HSS and GRM Girls HSS.

Sixty three flying squads monitored the examinations. Fifty five persons with disabilities wrote the examinations. Thirty scribes helped blind and those who were not able to write examination due to problem in hand for writing the examinations, the Collector said.

Karur

In Karur district, 7,292 boys and 6,781 girls totalling 14,073 candidates from schools were appearing for the examination being conducted in 46 centres across the district. That apart, a total of 712 private candidates were appearing for the exams in three special centres.

District Collector S. Jayandhi inspected the progress of the examinations at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School here.

Karaikal

Over 2,973 students appeared for the S.S.L.C exams from 13 examination centres here in the district on Wednesday.

In addition, 386 private candidates, including 83 girls and 303 boys, appeared for the exams from three centres here.

The number of candidates that appeared for the examinations include two special children, and a differently-abled student.

A two-member standing squad has been set up in each examination centre for monitoring fair conduct. Besides, a flying squad headed by the District Education Officer is undertaking surprise checks, an administration release said.

Nagapattinam

A total of 26,434 candidates appeared for SSLC examinations here from 264 schools in the district. This included a 13,202 girls and 13,232 boys

In Nagapattinam education district, 10,797 candidates that included 5,242 girls and 5,555 boys from 121 schools appeared for the examinations in 37 centres.

In Mayiladuthurai education district, 15,637 students that included 7,960 girls and 7,677 boys from 143 schools appeared for the exams in 41 centres.

Three centers in Nagapattinam and six centres in Mayiladuthurai have been allocated for private candidates taking the exams.

According to an administration release, question papers have been secured in five strong rooms each in Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam.
