Arrangements for Vaikunta Ekadasi are being made at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple.
A shed is being erected in front of the 1,000-pillar mandapam, where Namperumal will be brought from the sanctum sanctorum through Swargavasal. The temple authorities have announced that special tickets would be issued on payment of Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 300 to devotees. Applications for special tickets should be submitted on or before 5 p.m. on December 23. Those with Rs. 2,000 ticket will be accommodated at Sandanu mandapam, and the second category, at Arujana mandapam and Kilimandapam, said S. Kalyani, Joint Commissioner of the temple.
She said that wheelchairs would be available for differently abled persons. With the festival falling close to Pongal holidays, a large congregation of devotees was anticipated. She said that steel barricades would be set up to regulate queues at important places.
Ms. Kalyani said that more closed circuit television sets would be installed at the temple compared to last year. Places for supplying drinking water were also being identified. For the special tickets, Ms. Kalyani said that no specific number had been fixed and tickets would be issued to all those applying for it till December 23.
