Special sales scheme at Co-optex showroom

To increase sales of handloom items

A special sales offer, ‘buy two-get one free’ was inaugurated at the Co-optex showroom here by District Collector K. S. Palanisamy on Friday.

The special scheme has been introduced with a view to increasing the sales of handloom items.

An official press release said total sales amounting to ₹46.50 lakh was registered at the “Pothigai’ Co-optex showroom here.

The sales target fixed for the current year was ₹ 56 lakh.

Last year, a sales target of ₹2.46 crore was fixed for the Co-optex Thanjavur region under the scheme and this year the target has been fixed at ₹3 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Palanisamy said the Co-optex has been introducing new designs and products to suit the tastes of customers.

New arrivals, including those from Negamam, Chettinad and Koorainadu, made of natural dyes and silk sarees with original zari have been introduced.

Men’s clothing such as silk and cotton shirts and linen cotton shirts were also available, he said.
