Encouraged by the response to its ‘buy two, get one’ offer introduced last year to celebrate its foundation day, Cooptex has launched the scheme for the second consecutive year here on Tuesday.

The offer would be available for 25 days in the Cooptex showrooms in the city, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan said after inaugurating the sale at the Pothigai Cooptex showroom in the city. Under the scheme, customers could buy a range of products right from sarees to towels. For every two sarees purchased, they will get a third one free.

The showrooms, she said, have been stocked with latest arrivals from weavers in various parts of the State including Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Tiruchi. Apart from handloom sarees, bedsheets, furnishing and curtain material, towels, chudidhars, night dresses and readymade shirts have been stocked up.

During the special sale last year, the showrooms in Thanjavur region registered a sales turnover of Rs.2.25 crore. This year, they have been set a target of Rs.4.50 crore. In Tiruchi city, the showrooms- those near the Central Bus Stand, Rockfort and BHEL had sold Rs.74.92 lakhs worth of goods during the offer period and the three showrooms have been set a sales target of Rs.1.60 crore this year.

Ms.Muralidharan appealed to the people to patronise Cooptex and handloom products and help improve the standard of life of weavers.

S.Ramachandran, Regional Manager, Cooptex, was also present.
