Special counters have been opened in all taluk offices in the district to receive details of the Aadhaar card numbers and other details of voters under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) taken up by the Election Commission.
Disclosing this here after inspecting the uploading of the details received from voters already at the Tiruverumbur Taluk Office, Mr. Palanisamy said that voters could provide the details to the booth-level offices at polling stations or at the taluk offices.
Voters are required to provide their Aadhaar card number, mobile number, and email address which would be linked to the electoral rolls.
In a press release, Mr. Palanisamy said that booth-level officers had already carried out a door-to-door exercise to collect the details.
A special camp was held at the polling stations on April 12 and so far about 11 lakh voters had provided the details. Similar camps would be held on April 26, May 10, and 25 to receive the details from voters, he said and appealed to the voters to extend the cooperation to ensure that the electoral roll was fully authenticated, the release added.
