With Christmas spirit starting to set in, the cake mixing ceremony marks one of the preparations for the festival.

The Sangam Hotels in the city did the ritual with a difference. A group of students from the Spastics Society, Tiruchi, performed the ritual, mixing a number of ingredients together. About half a dozen trays containing dry fruits, cashew nuts, resins, wall nuts and cherries besides a few beverages were mixed together.

A group of three boys and four girls from the society exhibited a sense of joy, even as they were mixing the ingredients.

“It is a great ritual and we are pleased by the participation of these children,” says Suresh Mallya, general manager, Sangam Hotels, Tiruchi.

C. Shanthakumar, Director of Spastic Society, said that the children were being trained to cut vegetables and they all had well utilised it for cake mixing. The mixture would be allowed for ferment for about a month's time for making cakes, according to Mr. Mallya.
