Site for Tiruverumbur taluk hospital finalised

July 10, 2013 01:12 pm | Updated 01:12 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

The Tiruverumbur Taluk Development Committee has a reason for relief since the district administration has accepted its choice for the location of the proposed taluk hospital near Bhelpur.

The land measuring 2.75 acres abutting the Uyyakondan canal is owned by the Public Works Department.

Responding to a representation made by representatives of the taluk development committee, District Collector Jayashree Muralidharan reportedly instructed the Joint Director of Health Services to pursue the proposal in right earnest.

Due to frequent accidents along the Ariyamangalam-Thuvakkudi stretch, the need for a full-fledged hospital with mortuary as in other taluks such as Musiri and Manapparai was a necessity for Tiruverumbur, the representatives reasoned out.

Good response

Expressing happiness over the positive response by the district administration for the hospital proposal, a member said the hospital would substantially fulfil the health needs of the poorer sections of the local populace who otherwise were required to go to private practitioners.
