Illustrious alumni of Seshasayee Institute of Technology (SIT), retired and serving bureaucrats, industrialists, entrepreneurs and top-notch officials, lose no opportunity to attribute their progress to the motivation by late R. Anantha Narasimachar as a compassionate former Principal and inspiring teacher.
An epitome of selflessness, Shri ANC, as the alumni fondly address their mentor, say that his legendary vision was what could transform them into what they are today. On Friday, the alumni took forward their thankfulness to the noble soul by granting scholarships to seven deserving students out of the memorial fund of Rs.9 lakh they had created in the name of their mentor, over a year after his demise.
At the scholarship distribution function, the illustrious alumni represented by G.R.K. Raju, former chief workshop manager, Golden Rock Railway Workshop, Tiruchi; S. Sudharssanam, former Director, AICTE, Chennai; G.M. Rajendran, Additional General Manager – Valves and Spares; BHEL Tiruchi; N. Venkatramani, President of SIT Alumni Association; and P. Kothandaraman, Secretary, narrated the transformation that could happen in their lives through academic excellence and discipline that Shri ANC personified.
They sought to inspire the students to consider polytechnic education as a launching pad for further academic pursuits leading to responsible roles as change agents in the society, and were hopeful that the quantum of memorial fund and its utility for deserving students will keep surging. Unlike in the past, there was more scope for students to achieve owing to the high awareness level, the speakers said. T.R. Scholarships to three students sponsored by Mr.Raju, the chief guest for the occasion, were handed over to them by Mr. Venkatramani. The SIT anthem in praise of Shri ANC penned by the chief guest was rendered by a teacher Gopalakrishna Mani.
The Principal S. Sangapillai, and Vice-Principal N.Raju joined the other speakers to address the gathering .
