A group of Muslims staged a road roko on the Thanjavur Road here on Friday demanding the shifting of a TASMAC shop functioning along the road.

The police sources said the liquor outlet which had been functioning for about four years has been moved to a new place along the same road a few metres from the building in which it was operating earlier.

Complaining that the presence of the liquor shop was causing inconvenience to the general public, a group of Muslims blocked vehicular traffic in the afternoon. The police rushed to the spot and held talks with the protestors after which they dispersed.
