Shifting of Pudukottai GH soon

The Government Hospital in Pudukottai will be soon shifted to the Government Medical College.

Hospital Dean S. Saradha told The Hindu on Saturday that shifting and installation of medical equipment to the newly built medical college premises had already begun.

Dr. Saradha said the Director of Medical Education had allotted ₹23 crore to acquire medical equipment, teaching and learning materials for the hospital. They would reach within a week. Installation of equipment would be undertaken at the anatomy, physiotherapy, bio-chemistry, pathology, micro-biology, forensic and other departments.

She said CT scan, laparoscopy, endoscopy, laboratory equipment were among the equipment.

The out-patient and in-patient wards would have full-fledged equipment facility and would start functioning soon. Classes for first year MBBS were expected to begin in the first week of August.

Dr. Saradha said the in-patient block would have 750 beds. On an average, 1,200 out-patients visited Pudukottai GH.
