Sheik Chinna Moulana aradhana on April 12, 13

The 16{+t}{+h}annual aradhana and anniversary of Sheik Chinna Moulana organised by Dr. Chinnamoulana Memorial Trust would be held here on April 12 and 13.

Bombay Jayashree Ramnath would pay musical homage to Sheik Chinna Moulana on the first day of the event to be held at Hotel Sangam in the city. Swami Dayanada Saraswati will preside over the event. A nadhaswaram concert by Desur D.S.D Selvarathinam & party, asthana vidhwan of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, would be held the next day.

The trust will present purses of Rs. 10,000 each and citations to senior nadhaswaram artiste Thirucherai T.S. Jayaraman Pillai and senior thavil artiste Mannargudi M. Dhakshinamurthy Pillai on the occasion. It will present six nadhaswarams and thavils to deserving students learning the instruments, according to a release.

The trust has launched, Padhadhathi, an advanced training programme for imparting advanced training to senior students of nadhaswaram and thavil. During the training, eminent teachers will impart all the nuances of music to the selected students.

A scholarship of Rs. 2,000 a month will be given to the student apart from the tuition fee to the guru under the scheme to be implemented under the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited’s corporate social responsibility programme.

To start with, five students in nadhaswaram and five in Thavil are undergoing training under eminent teachers under the programme. For nadhaswaram, Ganesapillai of Keezhvelur and N.R.P. Ravichandran of Nachiyarkoil have been appointed teachers and for thavil, T.R. Subramanian of Thirunageswaram and M. Angusamy of Dharapuram will be the teachers.
