The second batch of five Nigerians housed in the Tiruchi special camp situated on the Central Prison campus here will be deported to their country from Chennai on Wednesday.
Taken to Chennai
Amid tight police escort, the Nigerians were taken to Chennai on Tuesday from the camp which also accommodates 22 Sri Lankans and a Malaysian.
They will be flown to Abu Dhabi by an Etihad Airways flight from where they would fly to Nigeria.
Of the total 20 Nigerians housed in the camp, the first batch of seven was deported a week ago.
The Nigerians were arrested by the Tiruppur police for overstay and brought to the Tiruchi camp in batches in December from the Chennai special camp after they completed five months conviction period. Police sources said the formalities for the deportation of the remaining Nigerians were currently on.
Two weeks ago, a group of Nigerians created a flutter in the camp by locking the inner gate with the police and revenue officials inside demanding their early deportation.
The Sri Lankan Tamils housed in the camp are those who attempted to illegally migrate to Australia from various places in the State.
The Malaysian involved in a murder case in Kancheepuram district was shifted a few days ago to the Tiruchi camp from Chengalpattu.
