SBI opens exclusive NRI branch

Bank officials in Tiruchi broke to the news to their clients through Skype

State Bank of India opened a specialised NRI Branch here on Friday.

Varsha Purandare, Chief General Manager, SBI Chennai circle, inaugurated the branch. Arun Agrawal, Deputy General Manager and B. Manivasagam, Regional Manager, were present.

“This is the first branch in Tiruchi. We hope to give better services to all NRIs through this branch,” said Ms. Purandare.

“SBI already has three NRI branches in Chennai and one in Coimbatore. So, this is our fifth NRI branch in Tamil Nadu,” she said. .

After the inauguration, Ms. Purandare and her colleagues spoke to their NRI clients through Skype and they responded enthusiastically to the news of the new branch.

The new branch is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including Skype facility, useful to cater to the needs of NRIs. The branch offers all facilities under one roof which includes fixed deposits in 10 foreign currency denominations, foreign remittances, lockers, mutual funds, insurance, and technological products. Home loans and car loans are also provided to NRIs.
