Saplings planted during NCC Day celebrations

Honouring of NCC cadets who excelled in various activities and planting of saplings marked the NCC Day celebrations held at the H.H. The Rajah’s College here recently.

The former Union Minister S. Regupathy who was the chief guest, donated a sum of Rs. One lakh for creating a mini firing range within the college campus to train the cadets following a plea from the institution’s NCC Company Commander Capt. P. Rajaretnam.

Mr. Regupathy said the NCC instilled discipline, character, spirit of selfless service and adventure among the cadets besides shaping their overall personality. The former Union Minister commended the yeomen services rendered by the defence personnel and exhorted the cadets to follow their footsteps. Earlier, he planted saplings as part of the celebrations.

The secretary, Subha Bharathi Educational Trust Prof. Vaidyanathan said NCC training was a preparing ground for the cadets to take up important responsibilities in future.

The College Principal (in-charge) S. Karthikeyan emphasised on NCC training for the entire student community. The NCC Company Commander P. Rajaretnam welcomed the gathering.
