Samathuva Pongal and Tamil New Year day was celebrated at Thanjavur Municipal Office on Thursday.
J. Thenmozhi Jayabal, Chairperson of the Municipality cooked pongal along with women councillors and distributed the pongal to all.
All the municipal councillors participated in the festival.
Mrs. Thenmozhi Jayabal said that every year "Samathuva Pongal" is being celebrated in the Municipal Office.
"This year being the last year of the present Municipal Council, the celebrations assumed importance”, she said.
