Collector Jayashree Muralidharan inaugurated the scheme at the Chinthamani Cooperative Stores on the Ammamandapam Road in Srirangam on Wednesday. The Collector said that rice would be sold at Rs. 20 a kg in the retail outlets of Chinthamani at Teppakulam, Puthur, Subramaniapuram, Kailasapuram, NIT-T premises, Manapparai, and Lalgudi and in the retail outlets of the Srirangam Sri Renganathar Cooperative Stores.
The Collector said quality rice would be provided to the people and she urged the consumers to take advantage of this scheme. Rajendra Prasad, JR of Cooperative Societies; K. Chitrarasu, Senior Regional Manager, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation; M. Theerthagiri, District Supply Officer; and Kanasabapathi, Special Officer, District Cooperative Union, were present. The scheme was introduced in all the districts situated in the central region today.
