Rural Industries Minister reviews working of schemes

First review meeting of the department in central districts

The Minister for Rural Industries, P. Mohan, on Tuesday, reviewed industrial schemes being implemented in the central districts through the District Industries Centre, Small Industries Development Corporation and State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the State government attached priority for the industrial growth of macro small and medium segments and appealed to the officials to furnish all relevant information which would contribute to the industrial growth of the region.

K. Dhanavel, Secretary to Government, Macro, Small and Medium Enterprises, appealed to officials to utilise the review for better implementation of the government-sponsored schemes.

This was the first time that the review meeting was being held for the officials of the industries department in central districts. The review pertained to schemes being implemented in Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Karur, Nagapattinam, Perambalur Ariyalur and Tiruvarur districts.

Jayashree Muralidharan, District Collector, said that bank officials had also been invited for the review, as capital, subsidy and finance played a crucial role for achieving the desired goals in industrial growth. She appealed to the bank officials to ensure priority for macro, small and medium industries in their advances agenda.

Later, the Minister distributed cheques towards loans and subsidy to 24 entrepreneurs to the tune of Rs. 1.04 crore. T.P. Poonatchi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, R. Manoharan, Chief Whip and Swaran Singh, Principal Secretary for Industries and Commerce, were present.
