Rs.33.94 lakh for cold storage

A grant of Rs.33.94 lakh sanctioned under the National Mission on Food Processing for setting up cold storages for milk and butter was handed over to the Tiruchi District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Aavin) here on Sunday. The money forms the second instalment of a total grant of Rs.67.88 lakh, constituting 50 per cent of the cost of setting up the 80,000-litre capacity milk cold storage unit and a 100-tonne butter cold storage, sanctioned to the union under the mission. The grant, given through the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business, was handed over by T.P.Poonachi, Minister for Khadi and Village Industries, to S.Dhanasekaran, general manager, Aavin, Tiruchi, in the presence of K.S.Palanisamy, District Collector. R.Chandrasekaran, Deputy Director, Agri Business, was present.
