People donated a sum of Rs. 2.50 lakh towards consumer contribution for construction of a 10-bed male in-patient ward at the Haji Vappu Memorial Government Hospital at Pallapatti in Karur district.

Social activist and philanthropist Mohammed Yakub, Pallapatti Town Panchayat president Thottam Basheer, physicians Akbar Ali, Sheikh Thameem, and members of the Pallapatti Friends Federation Trust office-bearers were present on the occasion when the cheque was presented to Collector J. Uma Maheswari.

The Collector thanked the public and appreciated them for their laudable gesture.
