‘Remove income ceiling for receiving pension’

October 15, 2013 02:37 pm | Updated 02:37 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

The Tiruchirappalli District Pensioners’ Association has urged the State government to remove the income ceiling of Rs.2,550 fixed for unmarried, widowed and divorced daughters of pensioners, who had crossed 25 years of age, for receiving family pension for their whole life from the GO issued in 2011. A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the association recently. Another resolution pleaded with the government to issue a GO to ensure that judgement given in a case is applicable to all in the same position. G.Palaniandi, president of the association, urged the State and Centre to set up advisory committee comprising of pensioners of all government departments for discussing issues concerning senior citizens.
