Auto Drivers Protection Association has urged the State government and the corporation to recognise all auto stands in the city and allot spots in the extension areas of the city and in business areas, and recognise them as auto stands as well. Urging the government to take steps to fix meters in autorickshaws, the association wanted the government to fix Rs. 30 as minimum fare and Rs. 12 for every additional kilometre.
It also urged the government to implement a system wherein auto meter fares were increased in tune with rise in petrol price.
Controlling the hike in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG, and withdrawal of condition that stipulates minimum educational qualifications for obtaining driving licence and badge were among their other demands.
A group of auto drivers – all members of the association – presented a memorandum containing their demands to the district administration at the collectorate here on Monday.
