Representatives and members of the Christian educational institutions and organisations took out a rally in the city on Saturday against the draft national education policy.

The organisations said that they rejected the draft policy and urged the government to withdraw the same. The policy attempted to impose Sanskrit, Vedic education and gurukul system and values. The rights and protection guaranteed for education institutions of minorities in the Constitution should be protected, they said. Bishops Rev. Antony Devotta, Rev.Paul Vasanthakumar and Rev.Edwin Jayakumar representing the Roman Catholic, CSI and TELC were among those who participated in the rally. Later, they handed over a petition to the district officials on their demands.
