A rally to promote awareness on blood donation was organised in the city on Tuesday in connection with the World Blood Donor Day observed on June 14.

Collector K.Rajamani flagged off the rally, organised by the District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit, near the Collector’s Office. The rally culminated at St.John’s Vestry Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School.

Flagging off the rally, Mr. Rajamani emphasised the need for sensitising people to blood donation among people. The district administration was honouring regular blood donors, he pointed out.

The blood banks at the district headquarters hospital and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital also conducted blood donation camps periodically, he said.
