Rally in memory of Swami Vivekananda taken out

A rally by school and college students was taken out here as part of the Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary Rath Yatra here on Thursday.

K. Baskaran, Collector, flagged off the rally from Railway Junction in the presence of K. Balamurugan, Passport Officer, Tiruchi, and Suresh Moopanar, chairman of Citizens Committee.

About 1,250 college and school students, took part in the rally, sporting caps with the portrait of Swami Vivekananda. The participants carried the placards with slogans of Swami Vivekananda. The chariot with Vivekananda statue followed the rally, which went through main thoroughfares and reached the Cauvery marriage hall, the venue of public meeting.

G. Rangasamy Moopanar, president of Thyaga Brahmma Mahotsava Sabha, took part in the rally. A mobile book exhibition also formed part of the rally.
