Rallies, flag hoisting mark May Day

Rallies and flag hoisting ceremonies marked the May Day celebrations in the city on Tuesday. R.Umanath, veteran CPI (M) leader and special invitee to the central committee of the party, hoisted the party flag at the Venmani Illam, the party's district headquarters on the Karur bypass road.

S.Sridhar, secretary of the Tiruchi district unit of the CPI (M), G.Vetrichelvan, city secretary of the party, and K.V.S.Induraj, district committee member, were present. CPI cadre participated in a flag hoisting ceremony in different parts of the city.

In the evening, INTUC members took out a rally from the Salai Road to Uzhavar Sandhai, where a public meeting was organised. Members of AITUC, CITU, and People Arts and Literary Association took out rallies in Woraiyur and Puthur area.
