Intermittent rain and the ongoing strike by the contract workmen of NLC led to considerable dip in power generation on Saturday.
The output stood between 1,800 MW and 1,900 MW against the capacity of 2,490 MW. The intermittent rain hampered lignite mining operation in all the open cast mines. Therefore, power generation had to be reduced. NLC sources told The Hindu that wet lignite would choke the conveyor belt system.
