Rain brings relief to water managers

It will help replenish borewells: Officials

Heavy to moderate rain lashed several parts of the district on Monday, bringing much relief to the water managers, who have been worried over the depleting groundwater level.

Karur town recorded the maximum rainfall of 58 mm followed by Mayanur with 40 mm during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday. Krishnarayapuram received 37.10 mm.

While Kulithalai and Aravakurichi recorded 26 mm and 9.20 mm respectively, K. Paramathi, Thogamalai and Panjapatti also recorded moderate showers.

The summer rain has brought much relief not only to water mangers but also the people, who were reeling under the searing heat.

Tiruchi

Kallakudi received the maximum rainfall of 50.20 mm during the widespread rain in the district on Monday evening.

The chief amount of rainfall recorded in other parts of the district during the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday were (in mm): Navalur Kottapattu 33; Musiri 26.20, Golden Rock 25, Pullambadi 24,80; Nandhiyar Head 22.10; Tiruchi Airport 13, Lalgudi 11.80, Tiruchi Town and Vathalai Anicut 11 and Tiruchi Junction and Thuraiyur 10.
