Divisional Railway Manager P.V. Vaidialingam on Friday called upon railway staff to ensure zero accident in the division.
Presiding over a safety seminar on shunting operations held at the goods yard here, Mr. Vaidialingam emphasised the need for updating the knowledge of railway staff with regard to rules for shunting operations.
The seminar was meant for the serving and newly recruited staff of Traffic and Mechanical departments of Tiruchi Division.
Staff involved in shunting operations such as pointsmen and shunting loco pilots attended the programme.
R.Murugaraj, Senior Divisional Operating Manager, called for strict adherence of shunting related rules such as setting and locking of points, proper usage of hand signals and adherence to prescribed speed.
G. Chandraseharan, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer urged the staff to understand the rules in right perspective and work with a positive attitude.
R. Subbian, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, advised the staff to scrupulously adhere to the existing working instructions and refresh their knowledge regularly to ensure safety in train operations, a Southern Railway press release said.
