To come up at a cost of Rs.1.650 crore to prevent open defecation
New public toilets would be built in Ariyamangalam zone at an estimated cost of Rs.1.50 crore to prevent open defecation, said Mayor A.Jaya on Thursday.
The Mayor, who inspected the on-going development works in wards 62 and 64 of the zone, also instructed the Corporation officials to ensure that all works sanctioned under the Integrated Urban Development Programme in the zone were completed in time conforming to the specified quality.
Eleven storm water drains and an equal number of road laying works have been sanctioned under the scheme in the zone, at a total cost of Rs.6.86 crore, according to an official press release.
Accompanied by Corporation Commissioner V.P.Thandapani and other officials, Ms.Jaya inspected the progress of works at Pappakurichi, Bharathidasan Nagar, Cheran Nagar, Pandyan Nagar, Priya Nagar, Malaikovil, and Mahalakshmi Nagar.
