Public Library department conducts summer camp contests

The State Department of Public Libraries will conduct ‘library summer camp competitions' for school students under the ‘Our World Library' scheme during next month.

Four different competitions will be conducted and they will be open for the students, both boys and girls, of classes VI to VIII.

While Tamil crossword competition will be held on May 9, filling the English letter competition will be held on May 16, maths puzzle contest on May 23 and general knowledge contest on May 30.

These competitions will be held in all the 116 libraries in the district – Central library 1, branch libraries 55 and village libraries 60, according to a press release of Collector T. Soundiah.

The main idea behind the whole exercise is to attract the youngsters towards the libraries. Hence, only those students, who have enrolled themselves as members of the libraries on or before April 30 alone will be eligible to take part in these competitions.

The enrolment fee is Rs. 20 for the students of rural areas and Rs. 30 for those of urban areas.
