‘Provide protect gear to workers'

The Tiruchi Corporation Sanitary Employees Association, affiliated to the AITUC, has appealed to the Corporation to provide protect gear to sanitary employees working at the garbage dumps of the civic body.

A resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting of the association on Sunday called upon the Corporation to give up the biometric attendance register system. It opposed the move to privatise sanitation works. Medical screening should be done on all sanitary workers once every six months. Sanitary workers should be given rain coats and tailoring cost of uniforms. Women sanitary workers should be given three quality sarees. S.Alphonseraj, president spoke.
