A portion of the flooring of the hall of a tiled house at Navalurkuttapattu near Tiruchi caved in suddenly causing a flutter here on Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported at the house of Sebastian at North Street in the village. M.Govindaraj, Assistant Director, Mines, Tiruchi, visited the house and inspected the cavity, measuring about 1.5 metres in depth and about 1 metre in circumference.

Mr.Govindaraj said that the cavity had occurred possibly due to the recent spell of rain in the area and a “loose formation” in the ground.
